| Bailey was a stray cat. He started appearing in our backyard on and off for months. Finally he came when we called him and he responded. He came over and we noticed how thin he had become. He was a healthy looking cat in the past . When we saw him months later, he was so thin! We left food out for him and he started eating. If it wasn't for us feeding him, he would of died. We already have 4 indoor cats. Fast forward about 6 months later.. Bailey had become part of the family. He was still an outdoors cats. He came around in the morning and at night to eat and hang out and say Hi. He made himself right at home in the house. He slept on the lanai at night. He was a fun friendly loving cat. Just wonderful! Fast forward...Last week he came around and couldn't walk. He was falling over. I rushed him to 24 hour animal hospital within 30 minutes. Bailey had an inner ear infection. They ran other tests and we found out our sweet loving Bailey also had FIV!! ( later would become feline AIDS ) My stomach dropped and i was HEARTBROKEN! We couldn't keep him as an outdoor cat anymore because, he can infect other cats. FIV is passed through blood and saliva. Animals get AIDS from fighting. Bailey was a VERY docile cat and NOT an aggressive cat. We have 4 cats we had to watch out for. We couldn't find him a home. It BROKE OUR HEARTS to have to put him down with NO other alternative. |
